Venue Hire

Our premises have stood since 1867 and have lived through several transformations.  It was born as the Townhead United Presbyterian Church, then was reborn as a school cafeteria before becoming the home of The Usual Place.

Its unique history gives way to exquisite stained-glass windows and stunning Victorian architecture – a venue suited to a range of events.

Events previously held in our meeting rooms include team meetings, training sessions, presentations, interviews, luncheons and more!  While our room is typically set up board room style, we are very flexible and will create layouts and packages bespoke to you.

The Thomson Room

Named for Reverend Thomson, a previous Minister at the Townhead Church, our Thomson Room is available for corporate hire.

The room is our largest, with capacity for up to 20 people, and is fitted with a brand new media bar and projector for all of your business needs.

The Crombie Room

Named for the last minister to serve Townhead Church, Reverend William Crombie, the Crombie Room is ideal for smaller, more intimate events.

The room, fitted with a projector and speaker systems, has a capacity of 12 people.

Please Note:

Room bookings are per hour with access to the room available 15 minutes prior and 15 minutes after the meeting.  Our cancellation policy states that rooms must be cancelled 24 hours prior to the booking, or the full amount will be charged.

A joint package of both rooms is available for £30 per hour.

The Cafe 

Our Main Cafe is available for hire as a venue for a variety of events and occasions.  If you are interested in hiring the cafe for your own event outside our normal opening times (evenings and weekends) please get in touch with our events team giving as much detail as possible about your proposed event:

  • Expected number of guests
  • Other information eg catering requirements, expected format and AV requirements, format outline
