Supporting Someone to Join
Start with a Conversation
We understand that thinking about the next steps can feel uncertain—for both young people and those who care about them, at any stage from the teenage years into early adulthood.
You may be exploring options together, or you may be feeling concerned about a young person who is not yet ready to take that next step.
Many of the young people we work with have had difficult experiences and may feel anxious, unsure, or reluctant to engage. That’s okay. We take time to get to know each young person at their own pace, building trust and confidence along the way.
If you are a parent, carer or supporter, you are very welcome to get in touch for an initial, confidential conversation.
We can listen, share our experience, and help you think through what might feel right—without any pressure or expectation.
When a young person does choose to explore The Usual Place, it’s important that they are at the centre of that decision. We work directly with them, supporting them to take ownership of their journey when they feel ready.
There is no one-size-fits-all pathway. We respond to each individual’s strengths, needs and ambitions—helping them move forward in a way that works for them.
An initial, confidential chat with our Early Enablement Officer is a great place to start. Please do get in touch—she works part time and is often out in the cafe supporting young people, so there may be a short delay in getting back to you.
